Dear Ones,
While Thanksgiving was being celebrated in the USA, our
land and the city of Mumbai was going through much trauma and pain caused
by the terrorists.
Have we not experienced that when any mishap affects
our family, we see it in a different light and when it doesn't, then it is only
an incident soon to forgotten and followed by a greater mishap on this earth.
It affected my Mumbai family since we experienced fear, trauma,
uncertainty and saw the injured die in the hospitals they were taken to or dying
int the hotels or VT station or in the Leopold cafe in Colaba. A young Jewish
priest and his wife were shot and their 2 yr old baby was taken to Israel by his
grandparents so they could bring him up.
Having shared the
above, we are just two weeks away from Christmas and I am here in Mumbai
planning to leave for Ludhiana and be back in Bombay to spend my first Christmas
here with my siblings . Presently am helping my sister to look after my bro in
law Roger who is recovering from his operation performed on Nov 26 and who
witnessed the death and tension in the Bombay Hospital where he was admitted. We
saw the spirit of death and destruction over Mumabi. For many months and years
it will be a solemn time for those who have lost their families and dear
ones in Mumbai and around the world. But we see Christ and draw hope that
the MESSAGE of CHRISTMAS will remain the same wherever we are in the world. It
will again be proclaimed that JESUS CHRIST CAME INTO THE WORLD TO SAVE SINNERS
AND THE LOST AND THE LOVE OF THE FATHER,SON AND SPIRIT AT A TIME LIKE THIS
BRINGS MUCH HOPE ,JOY AND PEACE to my own family and friends going through pain,
personal losses, trials and traumas of every kind you can imagine.
As we
struggle in our personal lives and STRIVE to walk with the Lord, we do not lost
hope and focus why we have come on this earth and why we were spared from many
calamities this year also.
Isa 61: 1-8 says it all. The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on
me, because the Lord has
(A) anointed me to :
1. Preach GOOD
NEWS to the POOR.
(B) He has sent me to:
2. Bind up the
BROKENHEARTED ,
3. Proclaim freedom for the CAPTIVES
4. Release from darkness for the PRISONERS
May I encourage
you to read this chapter till verse 8 and add an outline and let us share
this GOD NEWS with people wherever we go........
Make this
Christmas different and do something that you and your family have never done
before. May I humbly give some suggestions ?
1. Instead of
giving gifts to those who already have too much, would you like to share
that with 10-30 poor families in your neighborhood or church or community
that is suffering specially in the cold ? Ask and I will send you a list of
needs of students and families in villages and towns in Central India.
2. Donate funds for blankets/shawls/sweaters to hostels, orphanages and
poor families in ? Those who receive help will account for it directly.
3. Send financial gifts to someone the Lord puts on your heart and adopt
a student/family and support for 2009? A gift of Rs 650/ or US/Aus/Can/Singapore
$15 will educate and house a Student from a village in North India. You can let
me know where you would like to put your financial
seed.
Awaaz will NOT receive any
funds directly but we will be glad to guide any donor to the institutions that
are educating Tribal children and should you feel that you would like to do
something for someone this Christmas Awaaz networks in around 10-50 cities in
India (mainly North India).
